About Burnbend Angus

The Stud breeding herd at Burnbend commenced with the purchase of ptic breeding dams from Lawson’s Angus in 2005.  Since then further purchases have been made at dispersals (Narrangullen and Blackmore ICM, and by further selection of quality females from Lawson’s Te Mania and Alpine Angus).

These high-quality females and their daughters, from some of the best AI sires, will form the nucleus of our breeding programme, which will be carefully maintained at approximately 60 females.  Our concentration on quality females is based on one simple belief – you can’t produce the highest quality calves from cows which are not first-rate, no matter which bull one uses!

Having said that, we will be searching both in Australia and the US for outstanding bulls for AI use.  As a result of visits to the US in 2006 and 2008, we are in contact with several studs, and are receiving the latest information on promising sires for use in Australia.
